Uncle Remus - Pgm 11

Note:  This program contains racial stereotyping themes that may be offensive to some listeners.

Here's the last disc I have in the syndicated Christmas series, "Uncle Remus".  Jimmie Scribner tells Remus stories to a group of children getting ready for the holidays in this series designed to run a few weeks leading up to Christmas.

transcription label

Program 11 of the series is a story about Brer Fox plotting to capture Brer Rabbit with a singing bird.  The show was digitized from an original Cardinal vinyl transcription, matrix number CAR-A-741.

Interesting that you would have a copy of Jimmy Scribner since he is very hard to locate. My dad used to work at WKXL Radio in Concord New Hampshire in the late Forties. It was a Mutual affiliate. Jimmy Scribner was a syndicated series which meant that it went out to small independent stations which bought local advertising time to sponsor the program. It was like Amos and Andy in that it featured black characters who were all played by one man Jimmy Scribner. It was also unusual that it was popular in an area where there were virtually no black people. Thanks for posting.
