In program 311 of the series, originally heard October 12, 1931, Emil is going to have dinner with his girlfriend and Louie is concerned that she may ask too many questions about why they have moved out of their rented room into a hotel as part of their plan to go to South America. We continue our continuous twenty-episode run of “Louie’s Hungry Five”, an early radio serial syndicated by the WGN-Tribune Company. You can read my original post for more information about the series and catch up on all the episodes here.
Program 310 of the series, originally broadcast October 10, 1931, the “little German band” is staying in a hotel for a couple of days before heading out to South America. Here’s another visit with the “little German band”, “Louie’s Hungry Five”, a series of twenty episodes of this early radio serial I’ll be posting on the blog. There’s more background information on this obscure program in my first post about the series.
We’re almost half-way through the run of shows that I have from the series. In program 308, broadcast October 8, 1931, the group continues preparing for their trip to South America. Emil has ripped the telephone out of their room and taken it back to the telephone company. You can download a jpeg of the original local announcer’s cue sheet for the episode here.

Program 307 was originally heard October 7, 1931. The guys have sold all of their furniture so they can go on their trip to South America and haven’t made arrangements to leave town, so they have to sleep on the floor until their lease runs out. In program 304, originally heard October 3, 1931, the guys get confused trying to increase bids in the auction for their household items they’re using to fund their trip to South America. We continue our look at the early 30’s comedy serial, “Louie’s Hungry Five”, distributed by WGN. You can read more about the series in my original post that kicked off the series.
Program 303, heard Friday, October 2, 1931, has the guys in the “little German band” still trying to hide the fact from their girlfriends the fact that they’re selling all their household items to go to South America. After some music, they start the auction, with Louie giving them instructions on how to increase the bids. You can see the original cue sheet for the local announcer by downloading this jpeg image.

Now the next installment in the early 1930s serial comedy about the “little German band”, “Louie’s Hungry Five”. Read more about the series in my original post kicking off the series on the blog.
In our last episode, the Louie and the band were preparing to auction their household items to use the money for a trip to South America and trying to hide the auction from their girlfriends. Julia called Louis on the phone and Emil tells her he has broken his leg. In program 302, they’re figuring out how to keep Julia away from the auction and dealing with her checking with all the hospitals about Louie.
