Jack Berch Show - September 15, 1947

January 2nd, 2009

What better way to start off the New Year than with a quarter hour of fun, upbeat music and patter?

Sponsored by Prudential Insurance, "The Jack Berch Show" was a morning show on NBC and features Berch singing (and whistling) with a group that includes Charles Magnante, Tony Mottola, and George Schackley.  Songs include "It's a Good Day", "All of Me", and "In the Mood".  Berch tells the story behind the writing of the song, "The Letter I Forgot to Mail".  Eddie Dunne is the announcer.

The program was transferred from an original acetate line check transcription recorded at an unknown local NBC affiliate and includes the NBC chimes.

As a sickly little kid in Des Moines in the early 1940s I listened to the Jack Berch Show every weekday on the radio. To this day I still remember the words to his opening theme song “I’m a’whistlin’, are you listenin’?” etc. Is he still living? Thanks!
